Gucci’s Iconic Bamboo Bag
I am not used to wear vintage pieces. Not because I don’t like them (I actually adore them), but mostly because they are quite expensive and out of my budget. That’s why I was more than happy when I discovered this cozy and adorable vintage shop, Lorette & Jasmin, in 16th arrondissement of Paris, 6 rue François Millet. They have many extraordinary pieces and honestly, the prices are quite affordable.
That’s why today I want to show you this total vintage look from Lorette & Jasmin, wearing Coach trench (obsessed with it) and Gucci‘s iconic bamboo bag, a very unique piece. I have to say that I’m in love with this bag and about the whole story behind it.
This beautiful piece was created after World War II. As you can imagine, after the war, the fashion industry was having a lot of difficulties. It was very complicated to find new and high quality materials, but bamboo was imported from Japan and it was still possible to obtain. Even though, it was quite an unusual material to be used in fashion, Gucci’s craftsmen made it work, and as a result today we have this master piece, which was a must have bag in 50s and 60s. Movie stars like Ingrid Bergman and Elizabeth Taylor, and royal family members as Lady Diana wore the bamboo bag and made it an iconic piece.
I’m very happy for having had an opportunity to wear this bag. If you like it and you’re in Paris, don’t hasitate to drop by Lorette & Jasmin and have a look on this beauty.
Lot’s of love.
